It wasn’t long ago that we were celebrating reaching 50,000 Lawpath users (not even 2 years ago). However, a much bigger milestone has quietly snuck by – and it’s one that we can’t contain our excitement about. If we were an Australian musical artist, we would have achieved platinum-record status. Yep – we’ve hit 100,000 users, and helped scores of Australians find the legal help they need. However, we wouldn’t have achieved this feat without hard work and of course, the trust and support of our customers.
So to commemorate, here’s an overview of our journey so far. We’ll also provide a glimpse of what you can expect to see from us as we make our services bigger and better than ever.
From 5,000 to 100,000
Lawpath was born out of a need for businesses and people to have better access to legal services. We saw that many people who needed legal services couldn’t access them due to barriers such as cost and complexity. Technology had been a game-changer in the way people did their banking and even purchased their groceries. Why couldn’t the same be done for legal? So we put our thinking hats on and got to work.Â
In 2013, Lawpath came on the scene to provide a direct route to legal peace of mind. First came the customisable legal documents (of which we are always adding more). Not long after this came the lawyer marketplace which provides a simple and inexpensive way to hire a lawyer online. We knew as one of the first players on the market that we were tapping into something unheard of by many Australians. However, we believed in what we were doing so much that we forged ahead anyway.Â
By the tail-end of 2015, we’d helped more than 15,000 Australians. A year later it had doubled to more than 30,000. Although we’d suspected it, we knew for certain at this point that we were onto something special.Â
But we didn’t stop there…
We knew businesses wouldn’t have the complete package without being able to legally register their businesses with us as well, which is why we added company and ABN registrations to our services. Along with this, we also made efforts to give the public all the free information we could to learn about law and business by publishing digestible and informative content. To date, we’ve published more than 2,000 articles on everything from forming a business partnership to hiring the right employee.Â
Giving customers value for their money remains one of our main driving-forces, which is why we bundled this up and also began offering legal advice plans earlier this year, meaning customers could access hundreds of legal documents as well as their own personal lawyer for a low annual fee.Â
What’s next, you ask?
Despite all the knew things we’ve done so far this year, we won’t become complacent anytime soon. In addition to our growing catalog of free resources and continually growing number of legal documents, we’ve got more exciting things in the works. We’re not being hyperbolic when we say that they will revolutionise the way people create and execute their documents online – so watch this space closely in the coming weeks!
Rest assured we’re not done shaking up the legal industry yet. As a matter fact, we’re only really just getting started.Â
Growing alongside Legal Tech
Legal technology may have had a slower start in Australia, but it’s more than made up for lost time. In 2018 alone, $56 million was raised by Australian legal tech startups. This number is due to increase for 2019. There’s many reasons why this growth has metastasised so rapidly, but what it can really be put down to is the experience that users of legal tech are having – which has been resoundingly positive.
Just as many people were initially wary of doing their banking online, people are coming around to a better and more efficient way of having their legal needs sorted – and we’re thrilled to be a part of that.
So here’s to 100,000 more happy clients!Â
